Guided by the Ashton Manual
Dr. Mark Leeds tapers benzodiazepines and z-drugs gradually, over months, by the Ashton Manual and the Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines.
One physician, every visit
Dr. Leeds sees each patient himself. His practice is concierge, not insurance, and Florida only.
The first consultation
The medication, the dose, how long, and what the patient wants. Dependence is not addiction, and the plan is written for that person.
A plan the patient shapes
The patient sets the pace: risks first, alternatives explained, and the right to slow down or decline any step.
A crossover to diazepam, where it helps
Diazepam leaves the body slowly, so each reduction is felt less. Not every taper needs it.
Smaller reductions as the dose falls
Compounded liquid doses allow very small steps. When symptoms flare, the dose holds until they settle.
Follow-up through protracted withdrawal
Some symptoms outlast the last dose. Dr. Leeds keeps seeing patients through benzodiazepine-induced neurological dysfunction (BIND).
